Holland Casino Venlo // Facade Concept
Las Vegas in Holland
When approached by Dutch MVSA Architects to join them and support them for a specific expertise in their development of a bid for the new Holland Casino in Venlo, Netherlands, a new world opened up to us in the field of narrative space.
The challenge was to create an iconic facade and extend the building into a narrative architecture and a radiant and interactive symbol of entertainment.
A bit of Las Vegas in Holland.
The result was a facade made entirely of thin, hardened recycled glass discs, able to respond to wind and sunlight. A second layer of LED lighting behind the discs allows for an added dimension; the actual storytelling through light, symbol and message.
The facade also allows for interaction and engagement though smartphone or other input device.
For the Casino this is specifically for the "high rollers" and other VIP's.
