Algeria // Expo 2020
Voyage of Life
The Algerian pavilion at World Expo 2020 was the most ambitious participation of Algeria at a World Exposition until now. The relationship to the UAE, as organiser is of the highest importance, as well as towards the international community. It is the first time for Algeria to participate with a full self built pavilion. The pavilion forms a Gateway; a Gateway to the culture, history and development of Algeria, but also a Gateway to the Future.
The Algeria Pavilion at Dubai 2020 is created around the notion of journey, of voyage. The visitor is invited to go on a journey and discover Algeria in all its aspects, but not only that. Algeria as a nation is also on the move, on a journey, as are its people. The voyage they make and have been making for millennia is rich with stories that must be told. The pavilion architecture and its scenographic narrative form a 'gateway to the future'. With strong respect towards heritage, culture, tradition and nature, we create a platform from which the future focus of Algeria is presented. The country's aspirations, innovations, and its position on the international stage and the leading role in Africa become apparent, from the perspective of the EXPO themes of mobility, sustainability and opportunity.
Immersive Panoramic Mainshow
The Main Show Experience is the finale of the journey, after the Rihla Exhibition. The 270º panoramic screen experience is where we show not only how people connect in Algeria, through the developments of infrastructure and internet, but more importantly; what does it mean to be connected? How does it influence the lives of people?
North African Road Trip: An Algerian family travels 2000 miles along the Trans Sahara Road, from the deep south of the country right into the centre of the capital, in order to attend the birth of the latest addition to their family.
